After planning my trip to Switzerland a couple years ago, my dad informed me that my great, great grandfather had been a ferry boat operator on Lake Thun. I’d known that I’m primarily German and English, but I was tickled that maybe I also have a little Swiss in me. Perhaps this is why I’ve always been particularly compelled to visit: some odd genetic predisposition to liking the alps and green hills. It worked out that on my trip, I spent a day on Lake Thun, traveling from castle to castle on a ferry boat. One image is my feet in Lake Thun; the other is a view from the boat.
