After longing to visit Iceland for several years, I finally made it happen in March of 2018. Here were my favorite things to see and do from my week in Reykjavik and the surrounding area.
I was thrilled when a recent conference took me to Denver, though I knew that with a busy schedule I’d have to do my best to fit a lot into a short amount of time. Here’s my guide to the mile high city if you only have 2-3 days.
Even though I live in a mid-sized city, I feel right at home in a much larger one. At least a couple times a year I make it my mission to spend some time in a big, diverse city, and Toronto fits the bill perfectly. It’s larger than I initially thought, as it’s actually the 4th largest city in North America, after Mexico City, New York City, and L.A. Toronto is also a truly international city. Walk down the street and you’ll hear a plethora of different languages and accents. Here were some of my favorite things in T.O.
For two years during graduate school, I spent half my time in Atlanta, Georgia and the other half in Auburn, Alabama. I won’t bore you with the circumstances, just that I got to know the city of Atlanta and it was great. I still feel nostalgic when I have a layover at the Atlanta airport, I complain about how I can’t find spices anywhere that are as cheap as at the DeKalb Farmer’s Market, and I wish I could find a popsicle as good as the ones from King of Pops. Then I remember how bad the traffic is and I feel much better.
