Lake Geneva, Wisconsin is a sweet little resort town about an hour and 15 minutes from Madison and an hour and 45 minutes from Chicago. Despite its closeness to us, my husband and I had never been there until I learned about Winterfest and decided we needed to go for a low-key babymoon. What did we learn? This city is family-friendly, outdoorsy, and offers activities and festivals in every season. Read on to hear all about our Winterfest trip.

10 Things I Did in Austin Before It Was Cool
I spent two of my favorite years of my life in Austin, Texas. Though writing this post makes me miss it terribly, I’m also quite happy in my current location and I’m assured by my Austin-ite friends that the city isn’t as cool as it used to be. I don’t know if that’s actually true, but I’ll keep telling myself that. Here are a handful of recommendations for anyone visiting this fun-loving and sometimes “weird” city.
Montreux & Geneva: Adventures in the French-Speaking Part of Switzerland
Geneva has an airport that’s relatively cheap and easy to fly in and out of. However, it’s also on the Golden Pass panoramic train route. The panoramic trains feel like a destination in and of themselves, offering gigantic windows that extend into the ceiling of the train and stunning views. Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
I consider PR to be a great “bang for your buck” destination. Not only can you find a reasonably-priced flight, but there’s less planning needed if you’re traveling from the continental U.S.; you don’t need to bring a passport or exchange currency, and most locals (at least around San Juan and other touristy areas) speak English as well as Spanish. At the same time, you get a true cross-cultural experience and there seem to be endless places on the island to explore.
