Why Travel to Bratislava?
During my recent trip throughout central and eastern Europe, I had a few people ask me why on earth I had selected Bratislava to spend a couple of my precious travel days. I had a few reasons. First, Bratislava was practically on my route anyway, as it’s only about an hour from the hub of Vienna. I was also drawn to having a break from some of the larger cities and the tour groups that come with them. Third, there’s something special to me about traveling to a place you never anticipated you might go to, and learning as much as you can about that place and its culture.
Five Things To Do in Salzburg Before You Die
Salzburg is the perfect stop on any trip through Central Europe. As Austria’s 4th largest city at about 150,000 people, it’s also a nice respite from the buzz of Vienna or Munich. Plus, it’s a “must” for any fan of The Sound of Music or lover of scenic mountain views. Here are five things to do in Salzburg that you don’t want to miss.
How to Spend 48 Hours in Innsbruck
Innsbruck was not in my original trip itinerary and I’m SO glad I worked it in. It’s truly one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen, with magnificent mountain views everywhere you look. In a matter of minutes, you can take the funicular and cable cars up into the mountains for endless hiking trails. I couldn’t believe that people actually get to live there!

Breathtaking Moments to Have in Ireland
Giant’s Causeway is the crown jewel of Northern Ireland. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring about 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns situated on the coast. Walk on the columns themselves, then take a hike along the rim to see the view from afar. Were the formations caused by science or giants?
10 Things To Do In the Dublin City Centre
On a recent solo trip to Ireland, I flew into Dublin and made that my home base as I explored the country. Though I took a number of day trips, a week could easily be spent in Dublin itself. Here are my top 10 activities you can do in Dublin, all within a moderate walk or easy bus ride of the city centre.
Toronto: My Sightseeing In This International City
Even though I live in a mid-sized city, I feel right at home in a much larger one. At least a couple times a year I make it my mission to spend some time in a big, diverse city, and Toronto fits the bill perfectly. It’s larger than I initially thought, as it’s actually the 4th largest city in North America, after Mexico City, New York City, and L.A. Toronto is also a truly international city. Walk down the street and you’ll hear a plethora of different languages and accents. Here were some of my favorite things in T.O.
Montreux & Geneva: Adventures in the French-Speaking Part of Switzerland
Geneva has an airport that’s relatively cheap and easy to fly in and out of. However, it’s also on the Golden Pass panoramic train route. The panoramic trains feel like a destination in and of themselves, offering gigantic windows that extend into the ceiling of the train and stunning views. I highly recommend planning your trip to include this mini-adventure.
